The oppressive conditions of the past few weeks would prove a memory as cooler temperatures and cloud cover made for more comfortable conditions.
A-grade was first up with a field of six riders, highlighted by the debut of Nick Chisholm.
After 25 minutes and two laps it was Mick Sherwood, the series leader, who won the sprint from Warren Clark with Ash Smith third.
Next out was B-grade, with first-time racer Simon Heppel proving he will be a tough competitor.
Rob Carlyon took the win in the end from Rob Wright with Chuck Taylor third.
The highlight for the day had to be the C-grade race.
Club regular Mal "Chum" Nash managed a break at about the 18 minute mark and managed to hang onto his lead.
Crit racing on Saturday will be the first of our inter club series in Armidale, with racing from 3pm.
