Formed the year Melbourne hosted the Olympics, it is the oldest women’s club in Tamworth and, one of the most successful, having won over 50 premierships across the various grades.
The club also boasts a long list of representative honours from Seoul Olympic gold medallist Kim Small through to Dot Burgess, who was an Australian Schoolgirls and NSW masters representative player, to the likes of Dana Constable, Alice Arnott and Em Chaffey.
Gail Salter is also just about to don the NSW blue at the Womens Masters Nationals, which begin in Hobart on Friday.
To toast it’s 60 years the club is holding a reunion at the Hockey Clubhouse on Saturday October 22.
Getting underway at 6pm the cost is $30 a head, which will includes pre-dinner champagne or juice, hot and cold finger food, dinner, cake, and tea and coffee.
“We’ve got a list of over 300 players,” organising committee member Karen Doyle said.
Some of those played over 20 years with the club. Burgess is the longest-serving member, and while having now having packed away the shin pads donned Olympians colours for over 45 years.
Doyle herself is a stalwart of the club, clocking up over 28 years and said several of the original side will be in attendance.
She’s also put together a power point presentation detailing the history of the club that will be shown on the night.
