It was a massive weekend of finals in Group 19, with Inverell defeating Macintyre Warriors 33-20 on Sunday, to earn a start in the grand final.

Speaking from Boggabilla on Sunday, Lewis said it was a great win by his Roosters side.

“We were down 28-14 early in the second-half, and I think most people in the ground thought we were gone,” Lewis said.

“But the boys fought back very well and started to play some very controlled and very structured football that suited our players. We got on top of them and wore them down, so it was a good effort.”

Lewis said in his opinion, everyone thought the Boomerangs were the side to beat going into the game, and probably with good reason.

“You look at their form for the last couple of weeks, they’ve beaten the Macintyre Warriors and they’ve beaten Inverell as well,” he said. 

"They weren’t a real force at the beginning of the year, but later in the season they got a few of their players back and they were very strong. I think most people considered them the ‘stand-up certainties’, from what I can understand, and I think there’s a possibility they may have taken us a bit lightly.”
