Crewman Sean Maher and community liaison officer Michael Wilson, both from the Tamworth-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, visited the childcare centre last Thursday with a copy of a book Mildred Makes a Difference, written by Michael and wife Mel.
It’s a fundraiser for the service and gives youngsters an insight into the workings of the service and what it means to the community.
“Sean spoke to the children after the story, answering questions relating to dangerous situations and reminding the children of what number to call in an emergency,” centre manager Rachel McRae said.
“We are very much looking forward to reading the next three books written by Michael and Mel, who are Nurture One parents, and learning about the different emergencies Westpac rescue helicopters respond to.”
