The biggest event on the Walcha golfing calendar, the annual event drew over 100 starters, and from as far away as Buladelah.
“We had six players from Buladelah,” captain Will Brennan said.
They joined visiting golfers from Quirindi, Nundle, Barraba, Uralla, Manilla and the Longyard, and a host of local talent.
Coulter and Stackman put their home course knowledge to good use to take the overall honours in the scratch event with square figures.
They finished ahead of defending champions and Quirindi father and son Guy and Knox Fisher on -3.
Walcha’s Beau Presnell and John Izzard won a close nett competition on a countback from fellow local pairing Col Higgins and Doug McDonald after both scored +7.
Brennan said it was great day, albeit a bit balmy for Walcha at 27.
“The scores reflected the course,” he said.
“Everyone commented on how good the course was.”
Golfing attention now turns to Manilla this Friday for the annual Manilla Veterans Open.
Veterans come from a wide area to tee off in an Open tournament played in an 18-hole stableford format with a walk-up start from 7.30am to 9.30am.
