The Michael Dennis-coached side followed up its carnival opening final ball win over West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook with a nail-biting win over the Steggles Tamworth side.
After posting 9-168 Armidale restricted the home side to 9-166.
Boyd was prominent in both innings, top scoring with 57 and then snaring 5-37.
The win gave Armidale two wins for the carnival along with Hastings, who were too good for West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook.
Coffs also continued along their merry way powering to a 115-run win over the Barbarians.
Coffs batted first and made 6-157 from their 50 overs with opener Liam Watson hitting 45, Jessie Ferrett 29, Luke Neal 22 and Kieran Cunningham 18(no).
Max Nash was the pick of the Barbarians bowlers claiming 2-26.
They then again found themselves in early strife.
They were 8-20 at one stage and bowled out in the end for just 42.
Ben Grant was the only batsmen to make double figures and top-scored with 14.
Brodie Blackett-Gregg was the next best on nine not out after sharing a 21-run partnership with Grant for the ninth.
Alisha Phoonie (3-4) and Kater Singh (3-11) were the main destroyers but had plenty of cohorts.
Hastings also won convincingly after spinner Toby Fraser spun his way through WPHC.
The leg-spinner snared 7-24 to follow up the early work of Tyrone Gaffney-Allen (3-8) and perpetrate WPHC’s demise for just 89.
Manager Martin Bennett said he bowled with beautiful flight.
“A lot of the players were beaten in flight,” Bennett said.
“He bowled good lines and good length.”
Spinning partner Lachlan Bennett (1-17) also bowled well and with Fraser really put the screws on WPHC.
The batsmen set it up though monstering 9-190 from their 50 overs.
“The boys set the total up beautifully,” Bennett said.
“We were 3-71 at first drinks and 5-100 at the second.”
With Jake Morgan-Monk leading the charge they then peeled off 90 off the last 16 overs.
He finished with 50 while (Lachlan) Bennett chipped in with 32 and Ambrose Humphries 26.
Harrishan Parthipan fared the best of the WPHC bowlers with 3-17 while Todd Hutchinson took 2-42 and James Reynolds 2-38.
Tom Pratt (21) then top-scored with 21 with Rowan Love and Shaun Harkin both making 12.
Next door in the local derby Armidale looked to have the chase in control before a late flurry got Tamworth back in it.
“At first drinks they (Tamworth) were 1-50 and travelling along well,” Dennis said.
“Then our guys tightened up the bowling and put the pressure on and at the next drinks they were 7-89.”
“At 7-89 you would have thought it was all over but Tamworth kept hanging in there and hanging in there.”
Jo Doherty (55no) held the innings together brilliantly and with Sam Buster (19) and then Kyle Jennings (14no) dragged the equation back to 10 off the final over.
Armidale though were able to keep them to only seven.
Their innings similarly see-sawed.
“We again had a great opening partnership between Blake Cameron and Ben Friend (of 44),” Dennis said.
Then after losing a few quick wickets, Boyd and Jackson Gwynne (34) put on 99 to take them to 5-142 off 39 and turn the momentum back their way.
But the Tamworth bowlers dried up the runs after that with Armidale only able to add 26 in the last 11.
Lachlan Barton and Jennings topped the wickets for Tamworth with three each.
