Turning Grey turned his speed on at Grafton last Friday over the 1100 metre trip.
Turning Grey showed his customary speed leading for the major part of the journey and defied all attempts to run him down in the straight. The win was quite emphatic and a trip to Doomben in the near future is quite on the cards.
A start at his owners home track would be a tremendous thrill for them as his breeding suggests he will handle the Walcha circuit well. This would mean a short spell of course in order to have him fit and ready for February. George Woodward has been at it again journeying to Barraba on Saturday with Dixie Miss and Maboots.
Whilst Dixie Miss struggled with her form Maboots kept the stable winning record intact winning very convincingly.
Maboots has also found his legs since coming to the best climate in the state and has adapted to his new surrounds nicely.
The months have slipped away quickly and the warmer weather means the growing season is upon us.
Norm Bazeley and myself attended a seminar at Tamworth by Racing NSW following soil and water sample analysis readings. The advice we received was most helpful and Norm has undertaken once again to have the track in tip top condition.
A repeat of last year's track conditions will be hard to top, but can certainly be repeated.
As a matter of interest our bore water analysis came back as class 1 water and we were the only club to supply a water sample with that reading.
Most clubs were shown to have a severe water problem which contributes to the difficulty in maintaining a suitable racing surface.
