Tourism Moree won the third-highest accolade for its visitor information services, beaten by Frankston in Victoria and Ipswich in Queensland.
CEO Tammy Elborne said the team, comprising both past and present members who had contributed to the succession of awards over the past 18 months or so, was still over the moon at the national ranking.
“The submission process is a huge process,” she told The Moree Champion.
“The submission was 30 pages long and you had to have proof of your projects, evolution and numbers with statistics and the likes.
“You can’t just rely on the past year’s efforts; it’s a continued process.”
The team is now working on a new iPhone application and redeveloping the tourism website.
“Digital marketing is big at the moment and we are embracing it. We’re also getting ready to attend metro trade shows in places like Sydney, Melbourne and Newcastle,” she said.
Ms Elborne paid tribute to her team as wonderful ambassadors for their town.
