Narrabri will be looking for its first win in two years of the competition when it hosts Armidale this Sunday at Collins Park.
After being bowled out for 59 by Tamworth on the weekend, the side can only improve.
Captain Lachlan Cameron said the result was one of the toughest days he has had in cricket.
There was an upside for the captain who has big wraps on his young opening bowlers Dylan Segundo and Jake Brayshaw.
“For those guys to bowl against the Central North openers was a great experience,” Cameron said.
“Especially for Dylan to get the wicket of (Simon) Norvill.”
“That’s a good wicket for a young bloke to get.”
The captain also thinks the hiding might inspire the younger players to fight harder.
“Sometimes it can be a good thing to suffer like that.”
“It makes you pretty hungry to win and get some respect back.”
With that bit more experience under their belt, the Narrabri bowling attack is not the concern.
“We haven’t scored 200 runs in an innings yet this year,” Cameron said.
“As I said last week, we have one of the strongest batting line-ups we have had for years.”
“We just need to put it together and play a complete innings as a team.”
Caleb Risson is probably the most in-form and capable batsman for the side.
Risson was unlucky to get caught last week after he hit a rocket that stuck in Calum Rowe’s hand on the way to the boundary.
The former Brisbane grade cricketer has been scoring plenty of runs for Tatts this season.
Nick Smart has also been in form for The Mac and will likely open with Cameron this week.
“We have got to put a score on the board this week and get some respect back,” Cameron said.
“To hit 200 is our goal and it will go a long way towards getting our first win.”
