The blue dog drew the widest box but got to the rail and slipped inside the rest of the field to run away with it.
“He was slower beginning but once he got to the corner it opened up for him,” Shanley said.
“He got onto the rail in the bend and slotted in and away he went.”
Titanium Tiger won it by more than four lengths from Mint Galo (Lloyd Rock) with My Son John (Verona Wilson) just a nose away in third.
The dog won his heat last week in 23.63 but ran 23.45 this week.
“He went faster this time,” Shanley said.
“I’ve only had him two and a half months.
“This was his third start for two wins now.”
Prior to arriving at the Shanley kennels the dog was trained at Maitland and had been running around the Newcastle and Central Coast area with mixed results.
By the time he got to Tamworth he was in need of some TLC but now he is starting to fire.
“He’s coming on in leaps and bounds,” Shanley said.
“He came here sore and sorry for himself.
“He’d been racing down the line.
“I gave him the first month and a half off to pick him back up.”
That seems to have worked.
Titanium Tiger may now head back down the line for another crack at the TAB tracks but Armidale is also a possibility.
“I’ll look to the Armidale Cup at the end of January,” Shanley said.
“Depending on how he pulls up from this one I might take him to Maitland or The Gardens for a hit out.”
