The 10-year-old Tamworth BMX racer excelled in Melbourne, winning the 10 Year 20 Inch title as well as finishing second in the 10 Year Cruiser division, his mother, Katrina Davis said.
“We went to Shepparton last year for the Victorian State Tiles and he won his 9 year 20 Inch division as well as finishing fourth in his Cruiser division,” Katrina Davis said.
“This year we went to Melbourne hoping to repeat last year and he did well again.”
Up against 20 riders in his Cruiser Division last Saturday, he won his semi-final before finishing a close second and then securing his second Victorian State title the next day in his 20 Inch success against 30 riders.
The St Edward’s Primary School Year 4 student has had a good sporting year too, qualifying for the State Athletics Championships in the 200m earlier this year.
“He’s started Little A’s and enjoying it too,” Katrina Davis added.
“He’s taking a rest from BMX now for the next month and concentrating on Little A’s for a while.”
However BMX will ramp up again after Christmas as the young rider prepares for national BMX titles in Brisbane and then world championships in New Zealand.
“The good thing is he loves it,” Katrina Davis said of her son’s devotion to BMX.
“He wants to train and ride and do well at it.”
Tamworth BMX Club is also “on holidays” until next year when the growing club returns to racing with a national sign-on day in
February.
