More than 760 entries have been submitted for the 2022 awards, easily surpassing the previous record of 656 country artists in 2019.
Chairman of the Country Music Association of Australia Dan Biddle said the increase in entries represented the growing popularity of country music in Australia.
"There's a lot more acceptance for country music in mainstream media, this record number is an indication of how strong this is."
With the Country Music Festival entering it's 50th year, Mr Biddle said the spike in Golden Guitar entries reflected the success of Tamworth's most popular attraction.

"So many events like this come and go over time," he said.
"It's amazing that we're 50 years into the festival and the awards and it's getting bigger.
"That's such a great sign."
Despite the festival being called off for 2021, a scaled back and COVID safe version of the awards went ahead in January this year, but Mr Biddle said he was excited to see it amongst the rest of the festivities with the Country Music Festival given the green light for 2022.
"There's just not many events like this in the world."
