Former Scone Thoroughbreds player Jock Madden has been named the 2021 Player of the Year at his new club Western Suburbs Magpies in the NSW Cup.

The 21-year-old halfback had a strong season with the Magpies in the Knock-on-Effect NSW Cup, finishing the season as the competition's top point-scorer with eight tries and 49 goals in 13 games.
The 2021 season also saw Madden rewarded with an NRL debut against the Newcastle Knights during the NRL's Magic Round in Brisbane, followed up with a further two games played for the club towards the end of the 2021 season.

Madden was also nominated for the Player's Player Award, losing out to forward Thomas Freebairn.
A former Australian Schoolboy and NSW junior representative, Madden joined Wests Tigers in 2019 on a development contract - featuring heavily for the club's Jersey Flegg and reserve grade sides.
He progressed into the first grade squad in 2021 and recently re-signed with the club until the end of the 2022 season.
