Athletes wanting to develop their skills are now able to submit applications to trial for an array of 2022 NIAS programs.

Applications are open for basketball, football, golf, hockey and mountain biking.
Whilst some programs will have the same eligibility criteria as previous years, others such as the basketball will see a wider age range for girls and boys.

With support from Basketball NSW, the Tamworth City Toyota basketball program will be offered to girls and boys aged 14 or 15 in 2022.
A development squad will also be offered to those aged 12 or 13 next year.
The Jack Newton junior golf program will be offered to girls and boys aged 13 to 18.
With Hockey NSW's support, the West Entertainment Group hockey program will be offered to girls and boys aged 16 to 18.
These three programs will have skills sessions and regional training days, as well as inter-academy of sports weekends, the Academy Games, and athlete education.
For girls and boys aged 14 to 18 in 2022 who compete in a sport not offered by NIAS, and who compete at a state level or higher in that sport, they may apply to the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club Lone Star individual scholarship program.
This program helps athletes and their families cover competition costs.
NIAS is also accepting applications for its mountain biking program.
It is open to girls and boys aged 12-17 in 2022.
This program will include regional training sessions, competition support and athlete education.
The athletes involved in all of these programs will attend the life skills education weekend in 2022 and the annual academy awards night next year.
NIAS is also searching for new coaches.
Whether you are looking for a head coaching position or an assistant or trainee coaching position for one of the aforementioned sports, NIAS is keen to get you involved.
Previously, NIAS has also welcomed athletes from a large range of sports including gymnastics, triathlon, athletics, equestrian, BMX, lawn bowls, squash, softball and even woodchopping.
