*RACE 1 @ 1.05pm JT FOSSEY TAMWORTH MAIDEN HCP (1000m) - Min Weight 55.5kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
We open up a strong meeting with the maidens over the sprint trip. Local four-year-old Street Boss mare 10. MEDICIAN MISS (Cody Morgan/Jackson Searle a3kg; 55.5kg) hit the line impressively second-up after settling too far back, but again drawn well on the limit weight with blinkers back on, she can finally break through and go on to deeper races.
*MAIN DANGERS: Another well-weighted four-year-old mare 8. Just Like Lisa is also bursting to break through deep into her prep. Came from a long way back at Scone in a checkered run, but will again be forced towards the rear from a wide draw and naturally need a tonne of speed up front. Preferred here to Taree last Friday; while provincial mare 1. Visceral is a knock-out chance third-up after being scratched from Mudgee on Sunday to be saved for this.
Likely Tempo: Solid to Good
My Betting Attack: MEDICIAN MISS to WIN
*RACE 2 @ 1.40pm IRONHORSE GLOBAL MAIDEN HCP (1200m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Another fairly open affair over a bit further. Very much like the placement of lightly raced home track four-year-old 7. ROYAL CONFESSION (Cody Morgan/Jackson Searle a3kg; 55kg) second-up with blinkers back on for the same combination. Has been given five weeks since hitting the line from well back in a maiden that already holds a strong form reference, and can settle closer from a much better draw.
MAIN DANGERS: Big market watch on debutant Shalaa three-year-old 8. Silver City who was also scratched from Mudgee on Sunday to run here. Has been given a stack of time at the trials, and looks read to go off a recent forward gallop. Capable four-year-old mare 1. Bright Eyed Girl was a long way from the winner first-up, but she can settle a bit closer here and run home stoutly. Was scratched from Taree on Friday to run here. Consistent six-year-old 14. Mister Ripley has beaten all but the winner in his last four, and again draws to get a lovely run on speed; while expect improvement at fourth start from lightly raced four-year-old 4. Eureka despite the wide draw.
Likely Tempo: Solid
My Betting Attack: ROYAL CONFESSION to WIN
*RACE 3 @ 2.15pm TAB.COM.AU BENCHMARK 58 HCP (2100m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Tough five-year-old provincial mare 1. JAZIRAT (Jason Deamer/Christian Reith; 60.5kg) goes up 4.5kg but finds a much thinner race. Worked home strongly here last start after a fighting win in heavy ground at Scone, and is the clear one to beat 24 days between runs.
*MAIN DANGERS: Capable five-year-old 5. For Da Boys is well ready for this longer journey after winning a similar graded race two starts back, and stable is under-rated. Honest provincial five-year-old 4. Noble Cause has been in and around the money for much of this prep and also in a race with less depth, but has to overcome a tough draw.
Likely Tempo: Fair
My Betting Attack: JAZIRAT to WIN & Trifecta: 1/4,5/4,5
*RACE 4 @ 2.55pm TEAM THOROUGHBRED NSW MAIDEN PLATE (1000m) - Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:
Back to the short course for another intriguing maiden. Progressive four-year-old 3. POLYLITHIC (Stephen Jones/Rory Hutchings; 59kg) has enough tactical speed to cross the field in what looms as the easiest race he's struck in his brief career. Has finished close-up in the placings in three runs, and blinkers going on is a further plus.
*MAIN DANGERS: Must keep safe Panzer Division four-year-old 2. Fiendish who debuts off a tidy 800m trial win with an important gear addition. Big watch too on provincial Bull Point three-year-old 7. Devil's Inn who has been given four spaced trials since early autumn, and looks ready to go from a handy draw; while nicely bred Exceed And Excel three-year-old 6. Bongani can also have an impact on debut behind a smart trial.
Likely Tempo: Good
My Betting Attack: POLYLITHIC to WIN and Trifecta: 2,3/2,3,6,7/2,3,6,7
*RACE 5 @ 3.35pm KOSCIUSZKO TICKETS ON SALE NOW TAMWORTH RUSH (1200m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Now for the feature sprint, and naturally there's plenty of depth and chances to go with it. Got a stack of time for front-running four-year-old 8. SUPERIOR WITNESS (Luke Thomas/Jake Pracey-Holmes; 55kg) who can make it two straight despite a hefty step up in quality. Hasn't finished further back than second in four runs so far, and ran a quick time winning a weaker Class 3 last start. Drops a significant 3.5kg for this tougher assignment.
*MAIN DANGERS: Tough six-year-old 2. Dubai Tycoon has to cart 61kg, but comes in hard-fit off a strong Benchmark 76 win, and draws to get a lovely run right behind the speed. Big watch on local five-year-old and ex-Kiwi 4. Edit who returns for his first first run this side of the Tasman as a gelding. Hasn't started since last Boxing Day, but the new leading trainer has given him two forward open class trials. Local five-year-old mare 7. Cassy's Sister loves the track and distance, and draws to get good cover; while under-rated five-year-old Taree mare 6. Gold Bracelet can run home into the minor end of the prize.
Likely Tempo: Good to Strong
My Betting Attack: SUPERIOR WITNESS Each Way and Quinella: 2 & 8
*RACE 6 @ 4.10pm FURNEY STOCK FEEDS CLASS 2 HCP (1600m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
A stack of chances in this one too over the mile headed by consistent provincial mare 3. UNWAVERING FAITH (Nathan Doyle/Koby Jennings; 58.5kg) who worked home well enough when resuming in a deeper race, and can strike second-up staying at the trip.
*MAIN DANGERS: Be very forgiving of provincial four-year-old 2. McNair who was an impressive winner from off the speed two runs back before not getting the best of luck last start. Has more than enough ability in good or soft ground. Gap to the rest headed by local five-year-old 5. Ziggi Rocks who rarely runs a bad one, and only beaten a head by a promising one here last start, but draws wide and hasn't won for a long time.
Likely Tempo: Fair to Solid
My Betting Attack: UNWAVERING FAITH Each Way and Quinella: 2 & 3
*RACE 7 @ 4.45pm CARLTON DRY CLASS 2 HCP (1000m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
We wrap up the Tamworth Rush card with the sprinters, and set on tough and consistent local six-year-old 2. I'M A CRACKER (Luke Morgan/Jackson Searle a3kg; 57.5kg) who is on the quick back-up, with blinkers back on, after being edged out in his last three. Will need to leave the wide barrier well rising sharply in weight, but comes in a few and has the power and class.
*MAIN DANGERS: Home track four-year-old 3. Tools Down resumes in a suitable race with a 1.5kg claim; and progressive four-year-old 5. Apache Blue is second-up.
Likely Tempo: Good
My Betting Attack: I'M A CRACKER to WIN and Quinella: 2 & 3
