The Wests Entertainment Group 9s being staged this year is "not looking good" due to NSW's COVID-19 crisis, Group 4 chairman Terry Psarakis has said.

The competition is again slated to be held at Scully Park over four weeks in October.
Last year's inaugural WEG 9s was conceived to give players game time after the 2020 season was aborted because of the pandemic, and was a major success.

Psarakis said Group 4 had already received some player nominations for this year's competition.
He said: "But, obviously, that's gonna be sort of doubtful ... So, again, we're just controlled by [NSW] Health and by NSW Rugby League. At this stage it's not looking good."
The Group 4 season is on hold due to the pandemic. Psarakis has said the season being competed is "not looking good".
He has said that even if the regional lockdown ended on Saturday as planned, the fact that players have not trained for several weeks would make resuming the season "very tough".
The deadline for staging finals is "pretty well" the end of September, he has said.
