About 5.10pm on Sunday, police said a five-year-old was struck by a car as he ran across Dalgarno Street.
Emergency services were deployed to the scene to help the injured boy.
He was treated by paramedics and taken to Coonabarabran hospital.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked from Tamworth and later airlifted him to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, where he remains in a stable condition.
Police said he will undergo surgery for facial injuries in hospital.
The female driver of the vehicle was taken to Coonabarabran hospital for mandatory testing.
Orana Mid-Western police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
