A YOUNG girl has suffered burns to her hands after she fell into an open fire on a property in the Upper Hunter.

About 8.15pm on Saturday, emergency services were called to a home in Merriwa to reports of an accident involving an 18-month-old girl.
Emergency service personnel were told the girl had accidentally fallen into a fire and suffered serious burns.
She was treated on scene by paramedics before being transported by ambulance to Merriwa hospital.

Due to her age and the nature of her injuries, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called in and she was airlifted to Westmead Children's Hospital in Sydney for further treatment.
She was reported to be in a stable condition.
Also on Saturday night, a 13-year-old girl suffered chest injuries when she fell and was trampled by a bull near Tenterfield.
The accident happened at a Tabulum event. She was treated at the scene and flown by the rescue helicopter to Lismore Base Hospital.
She was in a stable condition.
