The 17-year-old cannot be identified because of his age, but appeared in Tamworth Children's Court on Tuesday morning, a day after his arrest.
He was not required to enter pleas to charges of aggravated robbery or robbery, stemming from a hold-up at Upper Manilla on the afternoon of February 8.
He faces an unrelated charge of break-and-enter with intent to steal to which he pleaded guilty on Tuesday.
He will be sentenced for that offence later this month, while the robbery charges were adjourned to the same date.

The teenager's solicitor lodged a bid for bail for the 17-year-old, which was ultimately granted by magistrate Julie Soars with 10 separate conditions.
As part of his bail, the teenager must live in Manilla with a court-nominated person under a curfew from 6pm to 6am, and stay out of trouble.
He must also report to local police three times-a-week; not contact or go near two named people in court documents; and is barred from entering Barraba or going within 20km of the area.
He must also obey directions from those caring for him; not to drink alcohol or take drugs unless prescribed; and follow all Juvenile Justice and other service directions.
The teenager was arrested just before 6pm on Monday at Tamworth Police Station after a breakthrough in the four-month investigation.
A strike force, code named Strike Force Windla, has been investigating the robbery of the 26-year-old woman who was stopped in her car at the corner of Fossickers Way and Split Rock Dam Road about 4.45pm on February 8.
Detectives allege the teenager knocked on the driver's side window of the Nissan Pulsar before opening the door and threatening the woman.
He's alleged to have demanded her phone and removed the keys from the ignition before taking cash from her wallet, which was in her handbag.
The accused then dumped the handbag in grass and fled the scene in another vehicle, police claim.
The woman recovered her keys from the grass nearby and alerted police. She was not injured but was distressed by the incident, officers confirmed.
Detectives were called in to lead the police probe and have been investigating the robbery, making two previous public appeals for witnesses.
