Speaking after Gunnedah's 26-20 loss to North Tamworth on Saturday night, Bullldogs centre Aaron Donnelly predicted his veteran mentor Mick Schmiedel would not be happy with the side's performance.

"I think he'll be a bit disappointed in us," Donnelly said. "It could've been a lot better."
How right he was.
When Schmiedel addressed his troops in the dressing room post-match, he let rip.
In his match report for Group 4, veteran Tamworth journalist Geoff Newling said it was "one of the most stinging post-game appraisals" he had witnessed.
"He delivered a withering and savage assessment of his side's effort before storming out of the shed," Newling wrote.
Schmiedel, he continued, was "fuming with his side's performance and unimpressed by their attitude in the first three weeks of the season".
It was the Bulldogs' first loss.
"After storming out of the shed[,] Schmiedel declined to comment to G4 Media as the steam continued to vent out of his beanie," he wrote.
"Indeed, his side had frittered away it[s] chances of beating the Bears with a mistake-riddled game and some poor defensive reads."
Earlier, referee Luke Sheather was left with a bleeding nose in the second half and was replaced, after Gunnedah No 1 Dylan Lake angrily kicked the ball following a Bulldogs error and it accidentally careened into Sheather's face.
Newling wrote that Lake apologised and Sheather "was philosophical as he recovered on the bench".
"Lucky I didn't have the whistle in my mouth[,] otherwise I wouldn't have any teeth left," Newling quoted the referee as saying.
Prior that happening, Sheather took on-field evidence, including photos, after Bears No 15 Brock Wadwell made a biting allegation.
