The NSW State Archives will unearth Tamworth's history in a new webinar series that takes a look at public building plans, probate packets, bankruptcy files and some well-known personalities.
Usually people come into contact with the archives when they are putting together their family history, NSW State Archives regional engagement senior advisor Wendy Gallagher said.
"The NSW State Archives is over 80 kilometres of records and while it's used a lot, we want it to be better used and have people across the state know about it," she said.
"That was part of the genesis for Archives in Your Town.
"We are hoping people will give us their memories and feedback about the material we are talking about because the real knowledge about Tamworth is in Tamworth."
