Five of the region's brightest young hockey talents are set to don the NSW blue in April after the first of the state sides for this year's national field championships were announced.

Tamworth's Makenna Barnett-Suey, Mackenzie Scott, Jack Marshall and Blake Scicluna and Hockey New England's Tom Ball will head to Bathurst for the under-15s championships.
Barnett-Suey will suit up for the 15s girls State side and Scott the Blues side, while Ball, Marshall and Scicluna will feature for the boys Blues'.

The championships will run from April 9-15.
The under-18s will start the day before in Launceston with the sides for that still to be announced.
The Tamworth Hockey Association is meanwhile full steam ahead in preparations for this month's Regional Challenge.
To be held from Friday February 26-Sunday February 28, the three-day carnival will bring 1000 athletes to Tamworth and also incorporate umpire and coaching development.
