The Rubens hit the road for regional tour, stopping in Tamworth on February 11

Band member Elliott Margin said the group - who have had huge hits like Hoops - are excited to hit the road.

"We realise that a lot of bands don't often get out to regional areas ... so the fans are always super appreciative and very receptive to live music, so for us it's a no-brainer," he said.

The group is gearing up to release their fourth album 0202, and are looking forward to finally belting out their new songs on stage.

"When you release a song, a lot of the time you gauge how that song is being received by the large crowds and by people singing along ... it's a bit weird because now you have to go on Sptify and look at the streams," Margin said.

The Rubens have been "dusting off the cobwebs" to get ready for some of their first shows back after the COVID-19 shutdown.

"The reason we make music is to play it live so not having that has been really hard ... it's a little easier knowing the rest of the industry is in the same boat," Margin said.

The concert is at Tamworth town hall on Thursday, February 11 at 7:30pm. Tickets are online.

It will be a far cry from the last time the band was in town, when they did a packed out and electric performance during the Tamworth Country Music Festival last year.

But, Margin said the band is happy to "roll with the punches" and just get back to touring.
