The four modules were shipped to Tamworth on Wednesday and arrived around lunch time.
Then, cranes lifted the units into place on the Johnston Street site.
It's expected the commissioning will take around eight weeks, barring any weather or traffic hold ups.
Tamworth Regional Council approved the build by Leading Edge Data Centres in September last year, one of 14 the group has across NSW.
CEO of LEDC Chris Thorpe said he was really excited to move to the next stage of opening in the city.
"We are really excited to be launching in Tamworth," he said.

The centre will give direct access to all the major providers, enabling local, national and global enterprises to service the area.
The $5 million data centre is planned to open in early 2021, prefabricated in Heatherbrae, NSW and commissioned on site at Johnson Street, North Tamworth by LEDC and Schneider Electric.
LEDC has recently formed an alliance with NBN, which will see faster and more efficient internet for all residents. Mr Thorpe said the partnership is expected to entice people from the city, to Tamworth.
