The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) confirmed it was managing the investigation and the plans for remediation at the site, which is near Tamworth.
A spokesperson for the EPA told the Leader Duri residents can expect an update on the situation "very soon".

The spokesperson said advice that people in Duri should not use groundwater hasn't changed, since authorities were alerted to the contamination in the days after Christmas 2019.
"The EPA has been working with the community and has sampled bores in the village of Duri to test for the presence of hydrocarbons in the groundwater," the spokesperson said.
An earlier investigation revealed one of the Duri General Store's underground storage tanks had been leaking for years undetected, before it seeped into a new domestic bore one door up the road.
The EPA said the tank had been removed.
