The Evans live in Moonbi and have been been breeding, raising and racing greyhounds for more than 30 years.
They have won big races, but capturing the Sydney Cup Final and pocketing $100,000 would be extra special.
Ros said: "We're on the downhill road now: we're just about finished with racing, my husband and I, after 35 years. We're aged pensioners."
Having a dog of In Your Time's calibre this close to the end of their careers was "nice", she said.
In Your Time is owned by Ros and John Thompson and is trained by Barry.
Ros said the dog was "quiet" - a common trait for strayers.
"She's very, very strong," Ros added.
In Your Time has four wins and 14 minor placings in 30 starts, for almost $15,000 in prize money.
She qualified for the Sydney Cup Final after finishing second in her last start, at Wentworth last Friday.
