Police are appealing for public assistance after the alleged attempted carjacking.
About 5.40am on Saturday, an unknown man armed with a knife entered the woman's vehicle while she was parked on Douglas Street.

Police have been told the man threatened the woman and demanded her vehicle, before she sounded the horn and the man fled on foot.
Officers attached to New England Police District attended and commenced an investigation.
The man is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, of thin build and aged in his 20s.
