In the past week, Chaffey Dam's water level rose by 1.28 per cent to sit at 24.73 per cent thanks to patchy rain last weekend.
The inflow of water means the city is 0.7 per cent away from Level 4 water restrictions being considered by Tamworth Regional Council.

Split Rock Dam (4.68 per cent) also enjoyed a top up while Dungowan Dam currently sits at 100 per cent.
The boost in dam numbers comes after the council named David Payne Constructions as the successful tender for the Paradise Pump Station Recreational Area project.
The project will include demolition of the existing pump station, construction of the new pergola and associated works.
Construction is set to start by early September and is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
Dam levels could continue to rise as the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) is predicting a good chance of rain for Tamworth in the coming days.
Winds are set to pick up and temperatures are expected to plummet.
Tamworth is expected to shiver through below-average temperatures, which could also bring snow to some parts of the region.
The cold, windy blast comes after a severe wind warning was issued for the region on Wednesday after wind speeds of 78kmph were recorded at Murrurindi Gap.
BoM meteorologist Helen Reid said the windy conditions were set to continue for the rest of the week.
"We are expecting the winds to increase during the course of today [Wednesday]," Ms Reid said.
"Most of the winds will be picking up during the course of the evening in the east and heading into tomorrow morning [Thursday] we can still expect to see some windy conditions.
"There is still one or two minor flood warnings around too, so we need to be careful."
Ms Reid said Wednesday's cold front was "the first of a double act."
"We're going to experience some cooler temperatures heading into Thursday and we have another cold front scheduled to come across the state during Friday and into Saturday," she said.
"There will be even colder air associated with that.
"So whilst temperatures on Wednesday were about average, temperatures in the coming days are expected to be a little bit below average.
"As we head into the weekend, areas in the north such as the Central Tablelands can expect snow down to around 700m and on Saturday evening, we could see snow on the Northern Tablelands down to around 900m."
