Beloved code-hopper Johnboy Quinlin was farewelled in Armidale on Friday afternoon, with COVID-19 restrictions resulting in a funeral that traversed the city.

A private funeral at the Armidale Seventh-day Adventist Church was followed by the hearse passing guards of honour at the home grounds of three clubs the 22-year-old code-hopper played for: the Armidale Rams, Barbarians and the Narwan Eels.
It also travelled to Morris Street.
The format for the funeral allowed more people to say goodbye to Quinlin in the age of COVID-19 - given funerals in NSW are restricted to 50 people max, while public gatherings of up to 10 people are permitted.
The funeral was live-streamed on the Johnboy Quinlin Memorial Facebook page.
Speaking to the Leader earlier in the week, Amie Cattell, the partner of Quinlin's brother, Phillip, said the outpouring of affection was "overwhelming".

"There's just no words," she said. "Like, everyone [in the family] is so thankful ... It just goes to show how highly spoken of Johnboy was.
"He didn't have a bad bone in his body."
Cattell said everyone that met Quinlin got "something positive from him".
