Following the announcement from the state government this week that senior sport can resume from July 1, the plan is to run an eight round competition with two weeks of finals starting "either the second or third week in July".

"Everyone's getting a bit excited," Potts said.

"I've already got players messaging and ringing in anticipation that we'll be all good to go."

The news was a bit of a welcome surprise, and a relief. Up until then it was looking doubtful that they would have the time to run a viable winter competition.

Potts is still awaiting some of the finer details like confirmation on how many people they will be allowed to have at the fields at any one time.

When that is announced she will open up registrations.

In the mean-time she is finalising the safety plans and working on putting all the processes in place for running a competition in the current climate.

As well as the safety procedures like having ways for people to sign-in and sign-out, and separate entry and exit points, there are a lot of logistical aspects to consider.

Potts is still "fine-tuning" those but indicated they will likely look at restricting numbers.

"Obviously being winter, and cold and flu season we want to keep the time people are out [in the cold] to a minimum," she said.

"We're looking at perhaps shortening game times. We'll still have the same turnaround 45 minutes, but that will give is 15 minutes before games so people from one timeslot can move out and the next move in."

But that will all be sorted out once the picture is a bit clearer around any restrictions on numbers.
