Reflections Holiday Parks Copeton Waters, and access to the dam via the park, is closed until at least Monday on the advice of the Rural Fire Service.
The Mundawah, Bundarra blaze on the southern side of Lake Copeton had burnt about 3000 hectares by this morning and was listed as being controlled.
The weekend's heatwave conditions will test firefighters, but work has been done to backburn and strengthen containment lines to try and control the fire before the weekend.

"We will continue to monitor the conditions and provide further updates as they come to hand," Reflections Holiday Parks chief executive Steve Edmonds said.
"Guests with an existing booking have received individual correspondence in relation to their booking."
Mr Edmonds said safety was the utmost priority and thanked people for their understanding and co-operation.
It comes as a house, multiple sheds and kilometres of fencing had reportedly been lost to a bushfire burning near Staggs Lane.
About 130 volunteer firefighters from the SA Country Fire Service had been assisting local RFS volunteers to contain the blaze to the Rifle Range Road area.
