TAMWORTH Public School students have boogied down as part of a nationwide dance initiative to help break the ongoing drought.

The #bustthedust campaign was initiated by St John's Parish School, Trangie, earlier in the week and has captivated schools across the country.
The initiative prompted schools to create their own versions of a rain dance and dance in unison from 1pm on Friday.

Tamworth Public School principal Christopher Connor said students and teachers were eager to show solidarity with their counterparts.
"We had our grade 1 and grade 2 classes taking part in the dance," Mr Connor told the Leader.
"All up, it was about 150 kids and they all had a great time dancing along and doing their bit to bust the dust.
"The teachers and the students were just so enthusiastic about the initiative and practised their dance based off the video put up from Trangie.
"We also had some of our senior kids get involved with teaching the younger ones the dance moves, so it was a really great event."
Mr Connor said his students were "experiencing the drought first hand" and understood the importance of initiatives such as #bustthedust.
"Things like this are just such a great morale booster for the entire community," he said.
"Hopefully this will bring us some rain."
