Oxley High School student representative council leader Olivia Collison said the school had been working on the fundraising efforts throughout the school term.
"The school's been involved with this fundraiser for the past 16 years, which is pretty special," Olivia told the Leader.
"Our school takes a lot of pride out of its fundraising efforts for a number of worthy causes.
"Just knowing how many people we've been able to help and change their lives, even if it's only for a few months with the presents that they get, is pretty special.
"It's great to be able to have an impact and ... it's an easy thing for us to do to help out."
This year's Christmas appeal hampers will be distributed in the week leading up to Christmas.
The annual Christmas appeal has been running for 20 years and has helped an average of 250 families each year.
