After David Warner set up the match with his ground-record 335 not out in a score of 3(dec)-589, Australia needed just 176 overs to bowl the tourists out twice.

Lyon was the hero on Monday, claiming figures of 5-69 as he took his 16th five-wicket haul as Pakistan were all out for 239 just after the dinner break on day four.

Pakistan were poor in the two-Test series but the Australians will reason you can only beat what is put in front of you.

And they did that convincingly.

The victories marked just the second time in Australia's history they had won all the matches in a series by more than an innings - with the other being against Bangladesh in 2003.

It was also the first time they have won back-to-back matches by such a margin in almost eight years, dating back to the 2011-12 summer against India.

"It was really pleasing," captain Tim Paine said.

"I thought we played some really good cricket for all the series. Barring the fielding yesterday I thought all of our cricket was good.

"We're starting to get the contributions from our top order we have asked for for a little while.

"And I thought our bowlers in both Test matches were excellent to create as many chances as they did."

Lyon's haul took him to 50 wickets at the ground he was once a curator at, second on the all-time list there and now just six behind Shane Warne.

"He was great," Paine said.

"Lyno turned up today and did what we want him to do. And that's win Test matches by taking wickets in the second innings.

"I don't think people understand how difficult it can be to get wickets with the pink ball during the day.

"And for Lyno to still to get turn and bounce and create chances for our team is an incredible effort and why he's such a great bowler."

He made the initial key breakthrough on day four, dismissing Shaan Masood for 68 and ending a 103-run fourth-wicket stand with Asad Shafiq.

The pair attacked Lyon down the ground, but Shaan fell when he didn't get to the pitch of one from the tweaker, picking out Mitchell Starc at mid-off.

Asad followed shortly after on 57, when Lyon was able to get one to rip at him from a good length and he tickled it to leg slip.

And when he had Iftikhar Ahmed from one that turned back at him to catch the inside edge and be caught at bat pad, the end came fast.

Josh Hazlewood also claimed two scalps and Mitchell Starc one, to go with his 6-66 in the first innings.

Australia now remain unbeaten in all six of their pink-ball Tests, and have another one starting next Thursday against a far-more formidable New Zealand in Perth.
