An 83-year-old woman suffered lower leg, pelvic injuries as well as lacerations in the crash on Swanbrook Road in Inverell, on Tuesday.
Four ambulance crews were tasked to the scene, near the intersection of Runnymeade Drive, just before 5pm.
The woman was trapped in the car for a short time before being freed. She was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to meet the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, which was tasked from Tamworth.
The helicopter's critical care medical team on board said they took spinal precautions for the elderly woman, who was then flown to Tamworth hospital. She was listed in a stable condition.
Ambulance NSW confirmed a man, aged about 60 years old, was also injured in the crash. He suffered minor injuries and and was taken by road ambulance to Inverell hospital. He was believed to be in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, a man was thrown the car he was in after an accident near Glen Innes, earlier on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old suffered multiple injuries in the crash, after he was ejected, a spokesperson for the chopper confirmed.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene before the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter was tasked from Lismore.
They stabilised the patient before he was flown to Lismore hospital for further treatment.
