TAMWORTH residents are being urged to take care as wild weather caused a set of traffic lights at the intersection of Peel Street and Brisbane Street to go out.

The lights faulted around 2.30pm on Saturday, as strong winds lashed the region.
Police have been made aware of the situation and are implementing alternative traffic measures.

Saturday's weather has also caused a series of blackouts across the region.
Many businesses on Peel Street, Kable Avenue and Marius Street, between Darling Street and Roderick Street have been without power since 2.31pm due to the wild conditions.
Essential Energy crews are investigating the outages and service can be expected to be restored around 5pm.
Those affected are urged to regularly check the Essential Energy website for updates.
Earlier in the day, strong winds caused a large tree to be uprooted from the ground on Carthage Street in East Tamworth.
Drivers and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution until the debris can be cleaned up.
The conditions have brought little relief in the form of rain with the Bureau of Meteorology recording just 0.4mm at Tamworth Airport on Saturday.
