Reminder for water-smart residents to use greywater within 24 hours

The stall is filled with information on rebates for water-saving measures for both residents and businesses, and plenty of other water-wise tips.

The hot topic everyone is asking about is how to reuse their greywater.

TRC's water sustainability officer Ian Lobban encouraged people to reuse their greywater, but said the most important thing was not to store it.

"After 24 hours it'll go septic," Mr Lobban said.

"Make sure if you're going to collect your washing machine water, have a bucket in the shower or after you've washed the potatoes - whatever it might be - just make sure you take that water out and reuse it straight away."

Mr Lobban said there were also a range of greywater systems that automatically diverted greywater in to gardens.

"That's a permanent set up, so if you have shower, wash your hands or do a load of washing, that means you've also watered the garden as well," he said.

With so many residents asking how to save water, Mr Lobban was confident the water-wise message was cutting across.

Council's pop-up water info stall be in Manilla on Wednesday from 10am to 11am at the council office.

On Thursday, it will be at Barraba One-Stop Shop from 11am to 12pm, then at Kootingal Library from 2pm to 3pm.

On Saturday, it'll be outside Tamworth Bunnings from 10am to 2pm.
