It capped off a hectic weekend for firefighters in the New England region with huge fires near Glen Innes and Armidale.
There was an emergency warning issued on Sunday for a fast-moving grass fire near Washpool Creek Road with fears it could cross Mount Lindesay Road, and move east towards the Bruxner Highway.

The fire burnt more than 280 hectares but it was listed as under control on Monday afternoon after water bombing efforts.
Residents near Homestead Road, Washpool Creek Road, Mount Lindesay Road, Robinsons Lane and Geyers Road should take advice from firefighters on the ground.
It was the second emergency fire warning in the Tenterfield area in less than a month.
Near Armidale, firefighters have been able to contain the huge Bees Nest fire, which continues to burn behind containment lines.
The fire has scorched more than 97,000 hectares and there are favourable conditions for firefighting over the horizon.
Smoke might still be visible for some time in the region.
The fire at Kingsgate Red Range 15 kilometres east on Glen Innes has been contained after blazing through about 35,000 hectares of land.
More favourable conditions are expected over the coming days.
This will allow firefighters to conduct a number of planned backburns.
People in the area will notice an increase of smoke and fire activity as these burns are conducted.
There have also been a number of fires in the Armidale area in recent weeks.
A 300 hectare burn on the Waterfall Way near Wollomombi and Sandy Creek had caused some issues for traffic.
The Waterfall Way remains closed in the area due to the risk of falling trees
A fire has tore through 10,000 hectares in the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.
It posed no threat to property.
