A massive crowd gathered as both the junior and senior clubs took the field at Mead Park on Saturday for the final round of both their respective seasons.
Players from the 1959 and 1989 premiership-winning Magpies first grade sides reunited for the fixtures and Old Boys' president Gav Peterson was elated with the day.
"You couldn't script it better really," he said.
"Massive. I think it certainly exceeded last year. It was fantastic.
"The feedback from everybody that was there, it was great.
"A number of people mentioned that they hadn't seen certain people for a long period of time and it was good to catch up."
The Magpies A-grade team donned commemorative jerseys which replicated the 1989 team's kit.
The jerseys were auctioned off after the match with $9900 raised to put back into the Old Boys' nominated local charities.
"On behalf of the Old Boys I would like to thank everybody for their support on the weekend," Peterson said.
"The jersey auction went really well after the game as well, there was a lot of interest.
"I would like to thank the community for their support and hopefully everyone had a great day."
The junior club faced Guyra for their fixtures while the senior Magpies took wins in all three grades against the Moree Boomerangs.
"It is not very often you get resounding wins like that in all grades against the Boomerangs so as a club it was a great day on-the-field and off-the-field as well," Peterson said.
Peterson coaches the Magpies under-18 side who managed to down the Boomerangs 40-10.
"Our defence was great the whole day," he said.
"They ground out the win, weathered the storm early and pressed on."
"The biggest difference this time is that we had a full bench, we had four reserves we could rotate.
"We tried to do quick rotations with our forwards and it worked.
"The Boomerangs ran out of gas and we were able to run away with it in the end."
The under-18s will face the Moree Boars this Sunday for the major semi-final.
The last time the two sides collided the Boars got the better of the Magpies 28-10.
"They beat us in the last game so we will certainly be looking to turn that around this weekend and hopefully have our full complement," Peterson said.
"The competition for us has been a bit stop-start and up and down but we are starting to get everybody together at the right time.
"They are keen and raring to go so we have just got to take that enthusiasm into the weekend and hopefully we can get a win, rest up for a week and get ready for the grand final."
In the A-grade, the Magpies faced the second-placed Boomerangs and finished with a 40-16 win.
A result either way wouldn't have affected either side's final standings on the ladder but Magpies player-coach Nick Say still believed it to be an important clash.
"We spoke about it before the game even though the result didn't matter that it was going to be a big game for us, just for the Old Boys and everyone there," he said.
"You don't want to lose a game like that and give them a leg up for next weekend."
Say was also happy to limit the Boomerangs' points.
"We spoke about our defence, that we wanted to make a statement," he said.
"We knew we had to lift our game because it hasn't really been our strongest point during the year."
The Magpies are expecting a tougher outfit this Sunday.
"It is going to be another big game, especially against them," Say said.
"They will be trying their guts out to get the grand final, they know what it is like so we won't expect the same team. It is a completely new ball game now, start from scratch and we can't really live on the past results."
In the league tag, the Magpies re-found their winning form with a comfortable 40-6 win over the Boomerangs.
The visiting side scored early but from there it was all the Magpies.
"They started slow but once they found their rhythm, they were real good," coach Andrew Hodgson said.
"The first 20 minutes, I wasn't really happy with their defence but it picked up in the second-half."
The side will travel to Armidale this Saturday for another match against the Boomerangs for the minor semi-final.
Despite two comfortable victories in their last two starts against the Moree side, Hodgson doesn't want his team to get complacent.
"Just need that 50 minute performance, you have got to turn up from the start coming into finals," he said.
"We have just got to tick all the boxes and put on a polished performance."
