Local Carlie Howcroft was recently "heartbroken" to find out that many people in the Tamworth region were lonely, didn't have friends, or didn't feel connected, so set about organising the meet and greet to help solve the problem.
"It went really well - we probably had a steady flow of about 40 people and children drop in over the two hours," she said.
"It was beautiful to see people interacting, making friendships, exchanging phone numbers or Facebook details and having a chat and a nice time."

The event was held on a weekday at the Tamworth Adventure Playground, and already Mrs Howcroft has been overwhelmed with positive feedback, and calls to host another one.
"We will be doing another meet and greet at the end of spring when it is a bit warmer," she said.
"The next one will also be on a weekend - I got a lot of messages from working people who couldn't make it, so hopefully we can get a few more people involved and have another really nice day, this time in the sun."
