The Rovers remained in the contest for much of the game, finding an early equaliser after FC scored the game's first goal.
The game remained tight on either side of the half-time break, with the Rovers fighting their way back to be 3-2 down.
However, despite being a man down due to a red card, FC were able to put the foot down in the second half to run out 6-2 winners.

FC captain Matt Williams said his side had experienced "an up-and-down season so far".
"It was a pretty tight contest throughout the game," Williams said.
"We haven't quite been at the top of our game so far this season, but we were able to find another gear after being reduced to 10 men, and kick away to a win.
"While it has been an up-and-down season, we are working hard to make sure we are up more than down."
Beginning the season with a 4-2 win over Quirindi, Gunnedah have since struggled for form, losing at home to South Lightning and drawing with Moore Creek.
"I certainly think the standard of the competition has improved this season," Williams said.
"At this point, I would have to say South Lightning are probably the team to beat.
"The competition is pretty even, so we will be continuing to work on playing our best."
FC will now turn their attention to a bye before a double-header on June 1 and 2.
"I think the bye has come at the perfect time for us," Williams said.
"We have a few guys out injured at the moment and a few guys who are playing with some injuries.
"From that perspective it is perfect timing for us, especially with a double-header the following weekend.
"We will need everyone we can for that one."
FC also tasted victory in reserve grade, notching up a 7-0 win over the Rovers.
