Backed up by Jacob Bird and Toby Whitten, the Workies lead for most of the game with Joshua Worpel and Mitchell Burrows finding the back of the net for the Diggers.
Workies coach Andrew Farmilo said the 6-2 scoreline did not reflect how hard-fought the contest was.
"At one stage there we lead 3-0 but they had a great second half and worked their way back to 3-2," Farmilo told the Leader.
"From there though, we were able to swing the momentum back our way and put on a few more goals to get the job done."

It was a strong performance by the Workies in attack, scoring from all of their penalty corners.
"At times we were a little bit inconsistent with our passing play," Farmilo said.
"When we did it well it looked really good but when it didn't it cost us.
"I think a bit of that comes down to a few guys looking to add their personal flair to the game.
"There's nothing wrong with that we just need to find the balance between that and buying into the team game plan."
Farmilo said Lachy Butler was one of his side's best players on the day.
"He along with Issac Farmilo were pretty key to helping us get the job done," he said.
"It was a good win but the Kiwi Diggers are a tough team and will certainly improve as the season goes on."
In the round's other clash, Tudor West edged their way past South United to record a 4-3 victory.
