Nundle's Go For Gold Chinese Easter Festival
The annual event is back for another year to highlight the small town's rich gold rush history on Saturday and Sunday.
Festival-goers have a pretty good chance to strike gold with four genuine gold nuggets ready to be panned, festival committee member Megan Trousdale said.
A highlight of the festival is the traditional dance from Chinese dance group, the Australian Yau Kung Mun Association.
There will be nearly 100 food, produce and craft market stalls, a magician, calligraphy demonstrations and Chinese cooking. For the kids there will be an animal nursery, jumping castle and face painting.
National Volvo Rally returns
After 30 years, the National Volvo Rally is returning to Tamworth on Sunday, from 10am to 1pm.
Rallies are held every two years throughout Australia, with the inaugural event held in Tamworth in 1989.
A number of current members and cars participated at the first rally and are returning this year, along with the car made famous from the 60's TV show 'The Saint' will be here.
The event has a record number of entrants and over 85 Volvo cars from the 1950's to current models have registered from all parts of Australia and will be on display at the Council carpark on White Street at the roundabout of White Street and Kable Avenue.
Tamworth's Easter golf tournament
Around 200 golfers will take to the Tamworth Golf Club fairways for the club's annual Easter Tournament.
The four-day tournament gets underway on Thursday with a ladies 18-hole stableford. Sixty ladies are set to tee-off in that and another 120 on Good Friday in the 18-hole ladies and mens' stableford.
The feature, the NSW Vardon Trophy event, will be played Saturday and Sunday and has drawn a field of 40.
Live music at the Tamworth Hotel
The ironically-named Friends and Acquaintances tour is on its way to Tamworth on Saturday night.
A fledgling friendship between alternative country's Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes and Ben Leece started with a mutual musical appreciation.
"We've been knocking around in the same circles and I'm interested in anything Shane Nicholson produced," Bryan said.
"I saw Ben play in Melbourne earlier this year and I'm pretty cliquey when it comes to who I want to work with and I'm quite opinionated."
"But having people we both respect say nice things about each other, we chatted a lot about the tour. That's why it's called the Friends and Acquaintances tour - hopefully we'll come out friends at the end."
It will be the first time the full band has come to Tamworth outside of the country music festival.
