Bill Perrett trains the son of Nicconi on his two-acre farm at Inverell, where Perrett works as the head stockman for the Bindaree Beef abattoir.
He takes Not In The Nick and grey mare Clipaholic, who ran a close third to Moana Marie on Thursday at Tamworth, to the Inverell track a couple of times a week for a swim and a gallop.
The rest of the time they are running around on his small property, enjoying themselves, chasing each other and the main thing: being happy.

On Thursday Not In The Nick was happy – happy to slide to the front four deep around the turn and happy to finish it off for a strong win.
Perrett was happy because he backed him at the big odds. Not In The Nick paid $42 on the NSW Tote after he had touched on triple-figure odds.
He can’t work his horses like most trainers due to his busy job.
“I start at 5am each morning,” he said.
“So I work them in the afternoon. Jog him around and swim him at the track but let them run around together at home.”
Perrett said his last three runs have “been consistent”.
“I was lucky to get a run too,” he said of the first emergency.
“Didn’t think he would when the noms came out.
“He’s been a good little horse for me.”
Jockey Mikayla Weir made the right decision too when she allowed him to “slip around them” at the turn.
“He just kept going,” she said.
