This year, Australia Day coincides with the culmination of the Tamworth Country Music Festival, but before the night gets rocking with the Golden Guitars, the morning will be dedicated to the local citizen of the year recipients and welcoming new Australians from abroad.
Festivities kick off in Nundle at 8am, where there will a sheep shearing demonstration along with a barbecue breakfast at the public school.

The pomp and ceremony also starts at 8am in Kootingal with the stately thong fling, pumpkin bowling, gum boot toss and the best decorated gum boot competitions.
Events will be hosted in Manilla and Barraba at the towns’ respective pools from 11am.
Prominent Newcastle chef Promilla Gupta will joining Barraba’s celebrations while actor and singer Peter Cousens will be in Manilla.
There will be a church service in Tamworth at the community centre at 7.30am, followed by a bush breakfast at 8.30.
Tamworth will welcome its new citizens when they take the oath after 11am.
It’ll be followed by the citizen of the year, young citizen of the year and Mitchell Brady encouragement award announcements for 2019.
There will be an Australia Day concert in Bicentennial Park kicking-off at 7pm and a fireworks display to light up the sky from 9pm.
