The rugby league community will farewell one of its staunchest supporters on Tuesday.
Tributes have been numerous for Tamworth District Minor League stalwart Pat Dewhurst, who passed away last week aged 74.
As the Tamworth and District Minor League wrote on its Facebook page following her passing, Dewhurst was a big part of junior rugby league for numerous years and will be “sadly missed at the minor league meetings and at the playing fields on a Saturday”.
Coaxed into becoming involved with the committee after making a comment while watching son Dean play, the she worked tirelessly behind the scenes for over 35 years.
Over that time she wore many hats including coach, manager, judiciary chairman, referees manager, and fixture and grading chairman.
She was also president of the TDML ladies auxiliary and was a fixture of a Saturday morning behind the canteen.
Dewhurst will be farewelled at a graveside service at the Tamworth Regional Council Lawn Cemetery commencing at 10am.
