Tamworth BJP Physical Culture Club’s Taylor Johnston will on Monday perform against the best of the best at the Sydney Opera House.
It will be Johnston’s fifth year competing at the National Finals after being selected into the 21-22 year final the Senior Zone Championships held early last month.
The girls perform on the Concert hall stage and vie for a top five placing. From the age of 19, the top two places in each section get to compete for the coveted overall Grand Champion.
“This is Taylor’s seventh year of eligibility for selection into an Opera House National final and has so far achieved five from seven. This is an exceptional achievement, both individually for Taylor and also for a club from the country”, Tamworth Physie Club teacher Tara Bartlett said.
Johnston was one of five club members that competed at the zone championships at The State Sports Centre at Olympic Park on Sunday November 11.
The championships are where girls aged from 15 years and older compete for selection into their respective aged national final.
Kiara Northey and Holly Shultz achieved selection into their respective aged national semi finals, while Prue Davies and Josephine Hillard performed exceptionally well amongst some strong competition.
“It is really rewarding to see all the hard work and dedication that the girls have put in all year pay off. The competition is very tough, so the girls did really well to get the results that they did,” Bartlett said.
