TAS won the toss and sent St Philip’s in to bat, restricting them to 135 from their 50 overs – with the last wicket a run-out on the last ball of their innings.
Best of the TAS bowlers was Christen Taylor, who claimed 3-25 off 10 overs. He was supported by Hamish Cannington 2-26 (10 overs), Andrew Kirk 2-31 (10 overs) and Cotter Litchfield 1-30 (10 overs).
There were four rain delays during the St Philip’s innings, sending the hosts for the covers and frustrating the batting continuity of the visitors.

After lunch, TAS openers Toby Smith and Dahlia Glennie took to the crease but rain set in at the 24-over mark, with TAS 0-73 (Smith 36 not out and Glennie 25 not out). In accordance with competition rules, TAS was declared the winner, based on a higher run rate.
“We bowled really well .. and had them under three (runs) an over for the whole 50 overs, and then when we went out to bat we took our time and managed to stay above the run rate just before it rained,” TAS captain Kieran Dennis said.
“It was tricky bowling in the rain especially when the ball got a bit wet, but it was probably harder for the batting side, having to re-start every time we went off. It’s good to be through to the semis, and that’s something to look forward to next year.”
The Douglas Shield is a knockout competition run by the NSW Country and City Schools Cricket Association, which comprises all Independent Secondary Schools in NSW, other than the Sydney GPS and CAS schools.
TAS will play either Riverian Anglican College, from Wagga Wagga, or St Luke’s Grammar, from North Sydney, in the semi-final early in term one next year.
