A Tamworth mother and midwife has been labelled the ‘baby whisperer’, after recently launching a business startup which is brightening the lives of new parents.
Kate Ross’ Sleep Effect is a service that helps parents get some much needed rest by educating the on the best ways to settle and sleep children up to five years of age.
“Sleep deprivation is really cruel, so by helping people to understand sleep better they can enjoy their children, and their own life much more,” Mrs Ross said.
“Sleep is also really important for brain growth and development in children, so it is also about giving parents reassurance and informing them about what normal babies do.”
A package from Sleep Effect includes a two hour consult and written report, as well as one month of direct access to Mrs Ross, meaning parents can call her at anytime to ask for hints and tips.

For new parents Shanna and Troy Brinkley the relief was almost instant after contracting her services for six month old Hudson.
“I was getting enough sleep because Hudson’s night sleeps were OK, but his daytime sleeps weren’t – they were only lasting about 20 minutes,” Mrs Brinkley said.
“Kate gave us some good tips about resettling and about routines – when to give milk, when to give solids, when to put them down and things like that.”
One week later Hudson was having two one and a half hour sleeps a day.
“As a first time mum I was always second guessing myself, so to have that reassurance and month of support has really helped – “I highly recommend her to any tired parents,” Mrs Brinkley said.
