Six Tamworth teams attended the carnival – girls’ 17s, 15s, 12s and 11s and boys’ 17s and 15s – with the girls’ 11s, 15s and 17s all making the quarter finals before being knocked out.
Tamworth Junior Oztag development officer coordinator Katrina Davis said all the teams showed guts.

“I think based on the numbers that some teams went over with, they did extremely well,” Davis said.
“The senior teams were down to 12, 13 players and at that level that’s a huge ask to be competitive. So they did amazing.
“With the younger girls, the 11s got a win and they progressed to the quarter finals with that win.
“12s didn’t get a win but made big improvements on their scores from the state cup. Across the board the results were positive.
“I’m super proud of how all the teams performed and their sportsmanship.”
